Name: Olivier Giroud
Position: Striker
After a dismal few months, the big Frenchman ended his 15-game goal drought by hitting four goals in the last two matches to grab Shoot’s award for May.
The 29-year-old, who could lead the line for Euro 2016 hosts France this summer, warmed up in style this month, ending the season with 16 goals in the league, his joint-best goalscoring campaign.
Giroud hadn’t scored since early January before netting in the 2-2 draw away at Manchester City at the start of the month, and he then followed that up by grabbing a hat-trick on the final day of the season against relegated Aston Villa, in a 4-0 romp.
With the news of fellow strike partner Danny Welbeck being ruled out for nine months, Giroud put his goalscoring problems behind him to help Arsenal secure second place in the league – their highest finish since 2005.
