Arsenal will not fall into the trap of allowing a large number of signings this summer, and will instead focus on ‘one or two’ targets, according to technical director Edu.

The Gunners signed six players last summer, as Mikel Arteta looked to revamp a struggling squad that he had inherited from Unai Emery.

But we won’t see a repeat of the club’s spending spree this summer, according to Edu, who revealed the club’s strategy to ESPN.

“We’re going to focus on signing one or two players,” he said.

“After last summer’s revolution, we need the next step.

Edu will oversee Arsenal’s transfer strategy this summer

“We’ve [got] our strategy ready.”

While Edu’s comments imply that the club already have targets in mind, it is not yet known which players the club will prioritise.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of names in recent months, with Tammy Abraham the latest name to be touted as a potential target.

Last year, the likes of Ben White, Nuno Tavares and Martin Odegaard all arrived in north London, although the summer recruits have had varying degrees of success in the capital.

White has established himself as Gabriel’s central defensive partner, while Odegaard has been in sensational form of late.

Tavares, meanwhile, has been criticised for some of his recent performances, although he did score in Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Man United on Saturday.
