Aston Villa and Newcastle are reportedly targeting an ambitious January swoop for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.

The 28-year-old stopper, who has 14 caps for his country, has fallen out of favour at the Parc des Princes this season, making just one appearance following the arrival of Kevin Trapp from Eintracht Frankfurt during the summer.

This has alerted the Premier League duo, who are both keen to strengthen between the sticks during the transfer window, with Tim Krul sidelined with a long-term injury for United and Brad Guzan failing to impress for Villa.

Sirigu, who has an impressive record of 64 clean sheets in 142 Ligue 1 outings since his move to the French capital in 2011, could now be set for a move to England.
