Aston Villa are reportedly lining up an audacious move for Italy international Salvatore Sirigu.

The Premier League outfit, who currently sit rock bottom of the standings having failed to win a league game since the opening day of the 2015-16 campaign, are exploring the possibility of signing the Paris Saint-Germain outcast in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old, who has 15 international caps for the Azzurri, has surprisingly made just one first-team appearance for the defending Ligue 1 champions so far this season.

Sirigu, who arrived in the French capital from Serie A side Palermo back in 2011, has been dramatically dropped to the bench since PSG’s inspired summer signing of Kevin Trapp from Eintracht Frankfurt.

However Villans boss Remi Garde may face stiff competition from top-flight rivals Newcastle United for the shot-stopper, who is reportedly valued at around £7.2m.
