Aston Villa’s best player after 10 Premier League games…

Jordon Amavi

Left-back Jordon Amavi joined Aston Villa from Nice in a deal worth £9m this summer.

Jordon Amavi has been arguably Aston Villa’s brightest ray of sunshine in a disappointing and gloomy start to the Premier League season at Villa Park so far. Topped off by the sacking of manager Tim Sherwood over the weekend; the Villans slumped to rock-bottom in the English top-flight standings after their sixth straight defeat, a 2-1 loss at home to Swansea City, to see the Midlands club collect just four points from their opening ten games. However defender Amavi, who joined the club from Nice back in July for a reported fee of £9m, will give the new prospective boss at Villa Park belief that they can stave off relegation come May. The 21-year-old, who is a France Under-21 international, pips captain Micah Richards to this week’s honour after his solid set of displays at left-back during his nine opening Premier League appearances, which includes supplying two assists and five key passes so far.
