Aston Villa’s Premier League Player of the Month for February

Name: Jordan Veretout
Position: Midfielder

Villa reportedly spent up to £8m to sign Veretout from French club Nantes last summer.

Considering Aston Villa almost look down and out of this year’s Premier League survival bid; especially after last month’s 6-0 annihilation to the hands of Liverpool, it is difficult to award an individual the Player of the Month award after yet another miserable run of results.

However; if you were asked to choose one Villa player you would take a chance on and sign this summer for a higher English top-flight outfit, some would say Jordan Veretout.

The 23-year-old; who is a former France Under-21 international, has brought a rare smile to Villa fans during his debut campaign with the Midlands club, with the central defensive midfielder impressing since his summer switch from Ligue 1’s Nantes, despite Remi Garde’s men’s alarming position in the league standings.

To demonstrate his talent; he played a hand in Villa’s second goal against Norwich City in the hosts’ singular 2-0 win, teeing up striker Gabriel Agbonlahor to secure all three points – only the home side’s third league win of the 2015/16 campaign.

Furthermore; he has kicked off March’s proceedings with another assist, crossing the ball for Rudy Gestede to head home his side’s consolation effort in Tuesday night’s 3-1 home defeat to Everton.

Unfortunately Veretout’s promising vibes are just drowned out by Villa’s severely under performing squad.
