Aston Villa’s Premier League Player of the Month for January

This season has been one to forget for bottom of the table Aston Villa, but they are unbeaten in their last three matches, picking up five points, and January has been their best month to date.

One of the reasons for that was the 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at Villa Park, in which Joleon Lescott scored the winner to give his side their first Premier League win since the opening day of the season.

As well as that goal and clean sheet, the former Manchester City man then helped Remi Garde’s side concede just one goal in their next two fixtures, which included another shutout against his former team, West Brom, at the Hawthorns last weekend.
