Manager of the Month: Derek Adams (Plymouth)

After making the play-offs last season, Plymouth Argyle had high hopes for this campaign. However, a somewhat difficult summer saw manager John Sheridan leave to be replaced by Derek Adams, in his first managerial role in England. He made a solid start but, in October, Argyle have really kicked on, resulting in the Home Park club’s best start to a season for over 50 years. They only failed to pick up maximum points once – a narrow 1-0 defeat away to fellow high-flyers Oxford – but other than that they have been flawless, building up a five-point lead at the top, scoring nine goals and conceding just three in six matches.

Player of the Month: Liam Sercombe (Oxford United)

Since leaving Exeter for Oxford this summer, Liam Sercombe has been one of the standout players in League Two. The 25-year-old scored an impressive six goals in six matches from midfield throughout October as the U’s moved up to second in the table. He scored two from the spot and four from open play to take his tally to eight for this campaign.
