Barcelona are reportedly confident of agreeing a double deal for Chelsea defenders Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta.

As reported by 90min, the Catalan side are currently working on deals for the Spanish pair, having already signed former Blues defender Andreas Christensen earlier in the window.

Chelsea and Barcelona first battled it out for ex-Leeds United winger Raphinha, and are now both trying to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.

That hasn’t stopped the two clubs from negotiating other deals though, as the La Liga side are currently in talks over deals for both Chelsea players.

Azpilicueta has spent a decade at Chelsea

It had been suggested that Chelsea may block the two moves after if Barcelona were to beat them to the signing of Kounde, however that appears to be untrue as the two clubs are still in talks.

Both Spaniards are entering into the final 12 months of their Blues contracts, and Chelsea would only be looking to recoup a modest fee for the pair.

It is also reported that both players have already agreed personal terms with Barcelona, with deals now just relying on an agreement between the two clubs.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted his frustration at the idea of losing club captain Azpilicueta in the same window as Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, and he has reportedly assured the player that he does have a place in his plans.
