An early Enzo Fernandez header was enough to earn Chelsea a narrow 1-0 victory over Leeds United in the semi-final of the FA Cup on Sunday.
The Blues had Calum McFarlane in the dugout at Wembley, following the sacking of Liam Rosenior last week after a dismal run of five Premier League defeats without scoring a goal.
Fernandez found the back of the net with a header from close range in the 23rd minute, and MacFarlane’s side held on to set up a clash against Manchester City in the final next month.
In the meantime, though, it appears that one of Europe’s biggest clubs are monitoring a Chelsea star.
As per Spanish outlet Fichajes, via CaughtOffside, La Liga champions Barcelona are interested in Chelsea forward Joao Pedro.
The Brazilian joined Chelsea from Brighton and Hove Albion last summer and is enjoying an impressive debut season in west London.
He has so far scored 22 goals in 49 games for the Blues across all competitions, as well as providing nine assists.
It is claimed that Barcelona have made the Brazil international one of their top transfer targets ahead of this summer’s window, as the Catalan giants look to overhaul their attack.
The 24-year-old won’t come cheap, though, with the report suggesting that he could cost as much as £65 million.
Pedro has more than seven years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, having signed a long-term deal when joining the club last summer.
That puts Chelsea in a commanding position during any potential negotiations, and the London side are likely to be adamant that the player himself is not for sale at any price this summer.
Fellow forwards – such as Liam Delap and Alejandro Garnacho – are more likely to be made available during the upcoming window.
