Arsenal risk losing Germany international star Mesut Ozil this summer, if Liverpool refuse to sell fellow midfielder Philippe Coutinho, according to Don Balon.

The Premier League side, who finished one point and place (fifth) behind Liverpool last term in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification, have been linked with FC Barcelona as the La Liga giants weigh up alternative transfer targets ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

Ozil, 28, who has 84 international caps for his country, scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in 44 appearances in all competitions for The Gunners last season, who lifted the 2017 FA Cup.

The German, who arrived at the Emirates Stadium back in September 2013 following his reported club-record £42.5m switch from Real Madrid, has netted 32 strikes in 162 games overall for Arsene Wenger’s outfit.

However, despite The Reds’ Coutinho being Barca’s top transfer target this summer, the report suggests that if a mega-money transfer does not materialise for the Liverpool ace, then the Spanish side will look to sign Arsenal’s Ozil instead.

Ozil has left than a year remaining on his current contract, but Barcelona would still be willing to offer £53m for his services.
