Steve Mandanda is at the centre of an unlikely transfer battle between Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

According to a report in the Croydon Advertiser the out of favour Crystal Palace keeper is wanted by both clubs who are expected to compete in next season’s Champions League.

Mandanda made the last of his nine Palace first team appearances at the start of November and has had to play second fiddle to Wayne Hessessey since then.

That fact hasn’t put off Liverpool or Bayern who are both on the look out for back up keepers.

Mandanda made his name at Marseille where he played in almost 300 matches but has failed to impress after joining Palace on a free transfer last summer.

With Sam Allardyce now in charge of Palace he is unlikely to stand in the way of a 32-year-old keeper as he puts his own squad together for next season.
