Manchester United have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of France international forward Antoine Griezmann, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League side, who comfortably defeated newly promoted Newcastle United 4-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday, have been continuously linked with a mega money move for the Atletico Madrid star.

The 26-year-old, who has 49 international caps for his country, has scored three goals and provided three assists in 14 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit so far this season.

Griezmann, who joined Atletico back in July 2014 from Spanish rivals Real Sociedad for around £24m, has netted an impressive 86 times in 174 games overall for Diego Simeone’s side.

The report suggests The Red Devils, among the likes of FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, are all interested in the Frenchman’s services, but United will be happy to learn Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have seemingly pulled out of the race to sign the forward, after the club’s sporting director, Hasan Salihamidzic, revealed they “won’t be joining in the craziness”.
