Bilic must give these West Ham men a chance against Leicester

West Ham come into this weekend’s clash with champions Leicester City in desperate need of a win, having not picked up three points since their 3-1 win over Southampton, over a month ago.

The Hammers had a late draw snatched from their hands at Bournemouth last weekend, after Andre Ayew had fired home an 83rd minute equaliser, when Joshua King bagged a hat-trick with his third minutes from time on the south coast.

The Foxes come into the game off the back of their outstanding triumph in the Champions League round of 16, beating Sevilla 2-0 to overcome a first-leg loss, with Kasper Schmeichel saving a penalty along the way.

With the east Londoners having not won at the London Stadium since Andy Carroll bagged that stunning bicycle-kick against Crystal Palace over two months ago, with their last outing in Stratford being 2-1 defeat to runaway Premier League leaders Chelsea.

With not a lot left to play for in east London this season, Slaven Bilic must use what is left in the Premier League to keep his squad fresh and give players a chance to prove themselves ahead of next season.

With that in mind, here are three Hammers who must get their chance against Leicester…

Andre Ayew

The summer signing, who has missed much of his maiden season with West Ham due to injury, must be wondering what he has to do to get a start.

With Andy Carroll having returned from injury, and looking frankly useless in his last two outings, the former Swansea man has been used as a sub in the Hammers last three Premier League games, scoring in the first against Watford, setting up Manuel Lanzini’s goal against Chelsea and scoring an equaliser against Bournemouth last weekend.

Sam Byram

Again, another on the bench who will be scratching his head as to why Bilic has opted not to put his name in that eleven.

With the Hammers facing somewhat of a crisis at right-back, their Croatian manager has been trying everything to fill the void, with Cheikhou Kouyate currently occupying the role, all whilst recognised right-back Sam Byram watches on from the bench.

The former Leeds man made a real impact at Dean Court last weekend, making a superb run onto Pedro Obiang’s through ball to square for Ayew’s goal, surely he’ll get a go soon.

Adrian

The Spanish shot-stopper lost his place to Darren Randolph earlier in the season, however, with the Hammers having conceded eight in their last four, a change may be needed.

Whilst the blame for conceding goals cannot all be placed on the shoulders of Randolph, Adrian will be hoping that Bilic can see the reasoning behind mixing things up this weekend.
