Bilic should give these 3 West Ham stars a chance against Swansea

West Ham are in dire need of points when they entertain fellow strugglers Swansea City in the Premier League on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Slaven Bilic’s men have lost their last five matches and haven’t won any of their last seven to fall down to 15th in the table, and just five points clear of the bottom three.

Manager Bilic is under huge pressure to turn things around at the London Stadium, and there would be no better way to begin that process than victory over Paul Clement’s Swans on Saturday.

The Welsh outfit are third-bottom of the Premier League after seeing Tottenham net three goals in the last five minutes against them on Wednesday night, a result which saw Clement’s men fall into the relegation zone after Hull beat Middlesbrough.

They have lost three of their last four games and are also in serious need of points, so it’s set up to be a nervy encounter between two sides who simply cannot afford to lose at the London Stadium.

And following their 3-0 loss at Arsenal on Wednesday, West Ham boss Bilic may have some thinking to do with regards to team selection, so here are THREE Hammers stars who deserve a chance against Swansea on Saturday…

Edimilson Fernandes

West Ham are in desperate need of some fresh impetus and inspiration this weekend, and tricky midfielder Edimilson Fernandes could give them that.

The 20-year-old has made just three Premier League starts this term but has come off the bench 18 times in all to highlight his importance to the squad, and with another cameo role against Arsenal in midweek, Bilic may be preparing him for a longer stint on Saturday.

The Swiss star inspired the Hammers to a 2-1 League Cup win over Chelsea back in October, and with Bilic and his side in dire need of something, Fernandes’ pace and trickery may be called upon against Swansea.

Robert Snodgrass

Swansea have conceded the most goals of anyone in the Premier League this term with 66, and a fair number of those have come from either set pieces or crosses into the box.

So, with Andy Carroll likely to lead the line once again, Bilic should call upon Hull’s Robert Snodgrass to make his mark in a West Ham shirt.

The Scottish international has yet contribute to a goal in nine league appearances for the Hammers since moving from the Tigers in January, and that has led to him being dropped from the starting eleven in recent weeks.

However, his delivery from wide areas is as good as anyone in the West Ham squad, and with Carroll the target, Snodgrass could do some real damage against the Swans, and perhaps inspire Bilic’s men to a much-needed three points.

Diafra Sakho

Striker Diafra Sakho returned from injury as a second half substitute against Arsenal on Wednesday, and with West Ham’s current plight in front of goal, they may need him upfront on Saturday.

The Senegalese international has started just two Premier League games for the Hammers this term, both of which coming back in November, but in one of which he did net their 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

However, injury has thwarted his progress this term, but given that he was expected to be out for the season, his return and 26-minute cameo against the Gunners will be a welcome boost to under-fire Bilic.

Whether he’s fit enough to start remains to be seen, but he is certainly an important option for Bilic and one he may need against Swansea on Saturday.
