Bilic should give these 3 West Ham United players a chance against Burnley

West Ham United picked up a credible 2-2 draw away to Premier League title contenders Liverpool on Sunday to ease a bit of pressure on manager Slaven Bilic.

Goals from Dimitri Payet and Michail Antonio had given the Hammers the lead at Anfield in the first half, but a Darren Randolph error allowed Divock Origi to equalise, although the goalkeeper did redeem himself with a stunning save to deny Jordan Henderson the winning goal.

Nonetheless, it was a much improved performance from West Ham, who now face Burnley, Hull, Swansea, and Leicester in their next four matches – matches that could define their season.

They go into those games a point and a place above the bottom three after their draw on Sunday, and they host Sean Dyche’s Burnley on Wednesday in a bid to record a third home league win of the campaign.

The Clarets go into this one off the back a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, their fifth win of the season, but they have picked up just one point from a possible 18 away from home so far.

Thus, Bilic’s men will be confident of securing a much-needed win on Wednesday, but they’ll need to perform at the same level as they did on Sunday to get their first league win since October 22.

With the busy Christmas period on the horizon, Bilic may make a few changes to his side, so here are THREE players who deserve a chance on Wednesday…

Edimilson Fernandes

West Ham will need to take it to Burnley on Wednesday, which means Bilic should consider a recall for Edimilson Fernandes.

The 20-year-old has impressed for the Hammers since his £5.5 million move in the summer and, although he struggled against Arsenal and was subsequently dropped against Liverpool, the Hammers may need his pace and dynamism to get at Sean Dyche’s Clarets on Wednesday.

It’s a must-win game for West Ham, and indeed Bilic, so he’ll need his brightest attacking players on show – Fernandes is one of those.

Ashley Fletcher

West Ham were much improved against Liverpool on Sunday, and will take huge confidence into a run of four games against sides in the bottom eight of the division.

How Bilic uses his squad could be crucial in them gaining maximum points from this run, and the Croat could use Ashley Fletcher on Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old netted his first West Ham goal against his former club Manchester United in the League Cup last month, and then was bright in his subsequent start against Arsenal, although the Hammers did lose 5-1.

They may need his energy and work-rate to lead from the front against Burnley on Wednesday.

Andy Carroll

Striker Andy Carroll has had two decent run outs in West Ham’s last two games, and it could be because Bilic wants to start the 27-year-old against Burnley tomorrow.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle forward netted in their 5-1 defeat to Arsenal ten days ago, and also got half an hour against the Reds on Sunday, so is slowly building his match fitness ahead of a potential start this week.

Carroll’s presence will give the Hammers another option against the Clarets, a side that have conceded 15 goals away from home this season, and he could be the match-winner for the hosts.

Bilic must decide whether Andre Ayew did enough to keep his place, but Carroll will certainly be in contention for a starting berth on Wednesday.
