Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has informed the club of his desire to leave in order to pursue a move to Manchester City, according to reports.
As per Football Insider, the England international has told those in charge at Leeds that he intends on leaving the club this summer, amid ongoing reports linking him with a move to The Etihad.
City are believed to be interested in the 26-year-old as they search for a new central midfielder to act as a long term replacement for Fernandinho, who recently departed City after nine years.
Phillips has impressed since rising to the top flight with the Whites two years ago, playing 49 times in the Premier League and establishing himself as one of the division’s best midfielders.

The Englishman has been linked with other top clubs including City’s rivals United, but he reportedly decided against joining the Red Devils due to his loyalties to Leeds.
City boss Pep Guardiola is a keen admirer of the player, and believes that he could be Fernandinho’s replacement.
The Citizens already have Rodri, but are still keen to replace the Brazilian, who made more than 380 appearances during his time in Manchester.
City have already made an offer for the player, and it is believed that around £50 million could be enough to sign the midfielder who is set to be out of contract in 2024.
