Boro in pole position to land Premier League striker

Middlesbrough are now reportedly favourites to land striker Gary Hooper from Norwich City.

The Canaries forward has been linked with a move away from Carrow Road all summer following the club’s promotion to the Premier League back in May.

The 27-year-old, who joined Norwich from Scottish Premier League champions Celtic two years ago, scored 13 goals in 37 appearances in all competitions for Alex Neil’s side last season.

However; after playing just ten minutes of the Canaries’ Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on Saturday, it is thought that the English striker is surplus to requirements for the remainder of the campaign.

Fellow Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday and rivals Sheffield United of League One have been identified as potential destinations for Hooper, although the odds on him joining Boro have been significantly slashed as of this morning.
