Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Gabon international striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to the Mirror.

The Premier League side, who suffered a 2-1 defeat to AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, have been strongly linked with luring the Borussia Dortmund forward to the Emirates Stadium during the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old, who has 56 international caps for his country, has scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Aubameyang, who joined the German outfit from AS Saint-Etienne back in July 2013, has netted a remarkable 141 times in 212 games overall for Dortmund.

With fellow forward Alexis Sanchez set to leave the Gunners this month, with Premier League rivals Manchester United favourites to sign the Chilean, the report suggests Aubameyang has agreed personal terms regarding a transfer to Arsenal this month.

The Gabonese star could set back Arsene Wenger’s side around £53m, and would become Arsenal’s second signing of the January transfer window following defender Konstantinos Mavropanos’ move from PAS Giannina.
