Matt Phillips is QPR’s top goalscorer in the Championship this term following the sale of Charlie Austin to Southampton earlier this month.

After already strengthening their frontline force with the impressive additions of Benik Afobe, Juan Manuel Iturbe and Lewis Grabban, it seems Cherries boss Eddie Howe is still remarkably in the January market for another forward.

With Bournemouth fearing in-form winger Junior Stanislas suffered suspected knee ligament damage during the 1-1 draw with Sunderland at the weekend, the newly promoted Premier League side could join the race to sign Championship star Matt Phillips.

The 24-year-old, who has two international caps for Scotland, has scored five and assisted four goals in 28 league games for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s Queens Park Rangers this season.

With QPR reportedly determined to offload Phillips’ large salary wages this month; Bournemouth could snap up the dynamic winger for around £7m-£8m before Monday’s deadline, with his attacking prowess sure to boost the Cherries’ bid for survival come May.

However Bournemouth boss Howe may face stiff competition from fellow Premier League outfit West Brom and Championship leaders Middlesbrough for Phillip’s signature.
