AFC Bournemouth are reportedly set to test Hull City’s resolve with a £3m bid for club captain Curtis Davies.

The newly promoted Premier League outfit, who currently lie in the bottom three on eight points from their opening 12 fixtures, want to strengthen their defensive ranks during the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old, who is out of contract at the KC Stadium next summer, has scored one goal in 14 appearances in all competitions for the Tigers so far this season.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is understood to have made Davies, who is a former England Under-21 international, his top transfer target this New Year as the south-coast club fight for survival in their first-ever campaign in the English top-flight.
