Inter Milan are reportedly favourites to sign Liverpool’s out-of-favour midfielder Lucas Leiva.

It is understood that the Brazil international has encountered a breakdown in relationship with Reds manager Brendan Rodgers and is set to be shown the exit door at Anfield before the close of the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old, who has 22 international caps, failed to score in 32 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool last season.

The Premier League side are willing to listen to offers for Lucas after he was left out of their opening game of the season at Stoke City on Sunday, with the club valuing him at around £8m.

Serie A giants Inter Milan are reportedly in pole position to snap up the midfielder after Roberto Mancini’s side failed to sign Lucas back in January.
