Brighton in pole position to land 27-goal midfielder

Brighton and Hove Albion are reportedly in the running to sign Ireland midfielder Richie Towell.

The Championship outfit, who currently sit level on points with Hull City at the top of the table, are understood to have entered the race to sign Dundalk’s prized asset in the New Year.

Dundalk midfielder Richie Towell scored an impressive 25 league goals in just 32 games last term in the Irish Premier Division.

The 24-year-old, who is a former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, scored a sensational 27 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions for the League of Ireland side last season to lift the Irish Premier Division and FA Cup.

Towell, who is a former trainee of Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, has already revealed that he has turned down offers to move abroad to Turkey and Poland after the expiration of his contract at Dundalk ran out.
