Steve Bruce has admitted that Aston Villa have been priced out of a move for Robbie Brady.

According to a report in the Birmingham Mail Villa have dropped their interest in the Norwich midfielder who is the subject of bids from Bournemouth and Burnley.

Bids of £13m plus are expected before the transfer window closes with Villa switching their attention elsewhere with Conor Hourihane lined up to play alongside Henri Lansbury.

Bruce took Brady from Manchester United to Hull and knows all about the strengths of the Irish internationalist.

If Villa were in the Premier League it would be an obvious move but with the club well off the pace for a play-off place Bruce can’t afford to rival top flight sides for the player.

Bournemouth are the latest club to be linked with Brady, Alex Neil is resigned to losing the 25-year-old with Norwich’s bid for an instant return to the Premier League floundering.
