Burnley are reportedly weighing up a £2m bid for Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche is looking to strengthen his midfield, and was dealt a blow on Wednesday with the news that one of his top targets, Henri Lansbury, has decided to stay at Nottingham Forest.

He is now understood to have changed his attentions to the Scotland international, who only moved to the Wearsiders in 2014 but has fallen out of favour under manager Dick Advocaat at the Stadium of Light.

The 26-year-old has been on the substitutes’ bench for the Black Cats’ opening two Premier League fixtures, and made 24 appearances in all competitions last term.
