Brazil international Willian has been granted compassionate by Chelsea following a family bereavement.
The Premier League side, who currently sit seventh in the English top-flight standings after their latest 2-0 victory over newly promoted Hull City, face defending league champions Leicester City in Saturday’s early kick-off (12:30pm).
However the Blues will be without the midfielder this weekend after giving the player time off following the death of his mother.
The 28-year-old has scored two goals in six league games for Antonio Conte’s side so far this season – netting in the victories over Burnley and Hull respectively.
On the club’s official website, Chelsea said, “All of us at Chelsea Football Club are sending our love and deepest condolences to Willian and his family after the passing of his mother. We are thinking of you Willian.”
The Chelsea star was in action as early as this week, where he found the back of the net in Brazil’s 2-0 win against Venezuela on Tuesday evening.
