Chelsea have reportedly agreed a £30 million deal to sign Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante, according to RMC Sport (in French).

The Blues have been linked with the Foxes star all summer, and now appear set to get their top defensive midfield target on a five-year deal, with new boss Antonio Conte continuing to strengthen a squad that finished a disappointing 10th in the league last season, failing to qualify for Europe.

Meanwhile, Kante was one of the stars that helped Leicester to a historic Premier League title win following a £5.6 million move from Caen in the summer of 2015 – finishing the campaign with the most tackles and interceptions in the top-flight – but he is understood to have shunned Champions League football to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

If the transfer is completed, the 25-year-old will become Chelsea’s second signing of the summer following the arrival of Michy Batshuayi from Marseille.
