Chelsea are aiming to sign a new striker after giving up on Alvaro Morata, according to The Sun.
The Spain international started his Stamford Bridge career impressively following a £65million move from Real Madrid in the summer of 2017, but has struggled for form this calendar year, scoring just six times in 34 matches.
Boss Maurizio Sarri and the club’s hierarchy were determined to give the 25-year-old a fresh start this term but are now convinced that the number 9 can’t cut it in the Premier League.
With Olivier Giroud now 32, the Blues board are concerned that a lack of support to Eden Hazard in the goalscoring department could derail what’s looking like a potential title charge.

So now the board and their Italian head coach are weighing up potential targets ahead of the January window.
The west London outfit have been linked with Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, AS Roma’s Edin Dzeko, AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain, Juventus’ Paulo Dybala and Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.
Younger options such as Germany international Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and AC Milan’s Patrick Cutrone have also been mentioned.
