Chelsea and Manchester United are hoping to beat La Liga’s Atletico Madrid to the signing of Edison Cavani, according to the Metro.
The deal is not likely to happen until the summer, but with the star’s future currently up in the air, the Premier League duo are hoping to sign the formidable striker.
Regarded as a veteran now, 33-year-old Cavani is still plying his trade for PSG, but is out of contract with the Ligue 1 champions come the summer.
The Metro have reported that the Uruguyan may have already come to some sort agreement with Atletico Madrid and is keen to move to the Spanish capital, but as of yet nothing has been signed.
Despite scoring a very impressive 198 goals in 290 games for PSG, Cavani has started just four Ligue 1 games this season after suffering a number of injuries.
It’s thought, that both Man United and Chelsea have contacted the striker’s representatives regarding a possible move, which they are permitted to do as he has just six months left of his current deal.
