Chelsea and Spurs chasing Brazilian winger

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday when they welcome reigning champions Liverpool to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Benfica in Champions League on Tuesday, following consecutive defeats in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca will hope to see his side benefit from goalkeeper Alisson’s absence on Saturday, with the Brazilian ruled out after being forced off during the Reds’ defeat against Galatasaray on Tuesday.

Ahead of Saturday’s match at Stamford Bridge, it appears that Chelsea are one of two Premier League heavyweights interested in a Brazilian youngster.

As per Calciomercato via CaughtOffside, both Chelsea and rivals Tottenham Hotspur are showing interest in Vasco de Gama star Rayan.

It is claimed that the two London sides are both keeping tabs on the 19-year-old with a view to potentially making an offer.

Both Brighton and Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest are also said to be interested in the teenager, who primarily operates on the right flank.

Rayan has scored 15 goals and provided two assists in 84 games for Vasco at senior level, having progressed from the Brazilian club’s youth system.

This season he has scored 12 goals in 43 games for Vasco, including seven goals in the Brazilian top flight.

The report suggests that Rayan’s current contract, which is set to expire in December next year, includes a release clause set at around £35 million.

The Brazilian side are keen to agree a new deal with the player, though, that would likely include a higher release clause.

It is also claimed that interested Premier League sides are contemplating lodging offers in the region of around £20-25 million for the player when the transfer window reopens in January.
