Chelsea have made an approach to Tottenham for manager Mauricio Pochettino as their search for a new boss for next season continues, according the Sunday Times.

The Blues are said to have discussed the possibility of the Argentine taking over at Stamford Bridge with the 44-year-old’s representatives, and been encouraged with the response they got after being impressed with the job he has done at White Hart Lane since moving in the summer of 2014.

The Premier League champions have been linked with a number of managers as they search for a permanent replacement for Jose Mourinho, and former Italy boss Antonio Conte is another that is thought to be high on the London club’s wishlist.

Former Southampton boss Pochettino has turned Spurs into real title contenders this term, with Tottenham currently second and five points behind leaders Leicester City, but it remains unclear whether he would be willing to make the jump to west London as soon as the summer.
