Tottenham Hotspur begin their pre-season campaign with a visit to League One side Reading on Saturday afternoon.

Thomas Frank will get the chance to see his side in action for the first time against the Royals, having taken charge of the Lilywhites earlier this summer after succeeding Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs have signed both Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel permanently after successful loan spells last summer, and winger Mohammed Kudus has also arrived from London rivals West Ham United.

Now, it appears that the North London side are also in contention to land a Bundesliga star.

According to CaughtOffside, Spurs are one of three Premier League sides that have initiated contact with the representatives of RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.

It is claimed that the Dutchman is keen on the idea of a move to the Premier League this summer, and his agents have begun talks with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Simons, 22, initially joined Leipzig on loan from French side Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, before making the move permanent in January this year.

In total the Netherlands international has scored 21 goals and provided 23 assists in 76 games for the German side across all competitions, but the report claims that he could be allowed for a fee of around £52 million this summer.

Manchester United and Newcastle United are also both said to have shown interest in the attacking midfielder, who can also play on either flank.

Simons is under contract at Leipzig until the end of the 2026/27 season, but the report suggests that he is open to the idea of a move to England and could be allowed to leave his current side this summer.

Barcelona, who were previously linked with a move for Simons, are said to no longer be in the running due to the finances required to sign the player.
