Chelsea are reportedly ready to treble N’Golo Kante’s current wages in a bid to lure the France international to Stamford Bridge this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Premier League side, who could only finish tenth in the English top-flight standings this term after sacking manager Jose Mourinho back in December, have been heavily linked with a move for the Leicester City star midfielder.
The 25-year-old, who has four international caps for his country and is included in France’s 23-man squad for EURO 2016 later this week, scored one goal and provided four assists in 40 appearances in all competitions for the 2015/16 Premier League champions.
Kante, who is understood to earn £35,000-a-week and have a £20m release clause in his current deal, is also said to be attracting interest from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
The report suggests that incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte is keen on making the Frenchman one of his first additions at the club, with Chelsea set to offer the defensive midfielder a five-year deal in an attempt to prevent him returning to his homeland.
Leicester spent just £5.6m on Kante’s services last summer from Caen.
