Chelsea have made striker Liam Delap their first signing of the summer transfer window, with the Englishman leaving Ipswich Town.
The Blues confirmed on Wednesday night that they had agreed a deal to sign the forward on a long-term contract set to run until the end of the 2030/31 campaign.
Delap, 22, joined the Tractor Boys from Manchester City last summer having failed to establish himself as a regular in the first team at The Etihad.
He enjoyed a fine debut season in East Anglia, netting 12 times in 37 Premier League matches for Ipswich, although his impressive record in front of goal wasn’t enough to prevent Kieran McKenna’s side from being relegated back to the Championship.
Delap previously spent time working under Blues head coach Enzo Maresca, during his time with Manchester City’s Elite Development Squad.
The England Under-21 international will join the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku in Maresca’s squad, although the latter has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
The striker has also previously spent time on loan with Stoke City, Preston North End and Hull City, scoring 12 times in 68 matches in the Championship across those spells.
