Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by Liverpool on Tuesday night in what was their first match since the sacking of Graham Potter.
The Blues missed a number of chances – and has two goals ruled out – during a frustrating evening for interim boss Bruno Saltor.
The ex-Brighton and Hove Albion full-back became part of Potter’s backroom staff at The Seagulls and followed the Englishman to Stamford Bridge.
Following Potter’s sacking on Sunday, though, the Spaniard has stayed put in west London and will take charge of the club until a successor can be appointed.
With that in mind, it appears that those in charge of the club could be plotting a sensational move as they look to find a new manager.
As per The Sun, former Chelsea player and manager Frank Lampard could be in line to take temporary charge of the club until the end of the season.
The report suggests that the ex-England international, who was present at Stamford Bridge for the draw with Liverpool, is being considered as a candidate to take charge of the club until the end of the season.

Lampard spent 13 years as a player with Chelsea, scoring a club record 211 goals in 648 games.
He became manager in 2019 following Maurizio Sarri’s departure, and spent 17 months at the helm before being sacked in 2021.
During his time in charge, Lampard was praised for operating under a transfer ban, as well as promoting a number of the club’s youth stars, including Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi, to the senior side.
Since leaving The Blues, Lampard has spent time as manager of Everton, keeping The Toffees in the Premier League last season.
He has been out of work since the end of January, though, and would be available to step in and take charge at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season.
The likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Carlo Ancelotti have all been touted as potential permanent successors to Potter, although it remains to be seen who will be in charge at the start of next season.
