Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has admitted that it may be difficult to land his last few targets before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday 31st August.

The Blues have already added Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi and Premier League champion N’Golo Kante to their squad for the new season, but the Italian manager is keen to bolster his defensive ranks.

Having seen bids rejected for both Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and AC Milan youngster, Alessio Romagnoli, the former Juventus manager may well have to accept that there could be no more additions before the deadline.

“With this market, it’s very difficult to believe in something,” said the 47-year-old, who was speaking ahead of his side’s Premier League fixture against Burnley.

“I have some targets,” he added. “These targets will be very difficult to buy. But now we have a game against Burnley which is more important than the market.”
