The transfer window officially opens on Friday, and Chelsea are once again likely to be among the busiest Premier League clubs.

The Blues have spent more than £1 billion on new signings since Todd Boehly and Clearlake took charge of the club in 2022, but have only managed 12th and sixth-placed finishes in the past two campaigns respectively.

Mauricio Pochettino departed Stamford Bridge by mutual consent at the end of the recent season, and the Argentine has since been replaced by ex-Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca.

The Italian will likely be looking to bolster his squad during the upcoming summer transfer window, and it appears that the Blues have already made contact over a potential move for a Premier League star.

According to The Evening Standard, Chelsea have made an enquiry about Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise.

Olise has attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs

The West London outfit were close to signing Olise last term but ultimately failed to finalise a deal, and the 22-year-old then signed a new contact with the Eagles.

He has since enjoyed an impressive, albeit injury-hit, season for Palace, scoring ten goals and registering six assists in 19 Premier League games.

The report claims that the Blues are now once again interested in the Frenchman, and are also prepared to meet his release clause which could rise above £60 million.

Chelsea could face competition for the winger’s signature, with fellow Premier League clubs Manchester United and Manchester City also said to be interested, as well as German giants Bayern Munich.

Olise, who joined Palace from reading in 2021, is contracted to the Selhurst Park outfit until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Despite Chelsea’s interest, the report claims that Olise is likely to look for Champions League football if he does depart Palace this summer; something that the Blues cannot offer next term.
