Chelsea have reportedly entered negotiations over a potential deal for Spain international striker Alvaro Morata this summer, according to the Telegraph.

The Premier League side, who could only finish tenth in the English top-flight standings this term after a thoroughly disappointing defence of their 2014/15 league title, where they sacked manager Jose Mourinho back in December, are ready to try and lure the Juventus hitman to Stamford Bridge before the 2016/17 campaign.

The 23-year-old, who has eight international caps for his country and is included in Spain’s 23-man squad for EURO 2016 later this month, scored 12 goals and provided 12 assists in 47 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A champions this season.

Morata, who is valued at around £40m by the Italian giants, could however be on his way back to Real Madrid this summer as his former club have the option to activate a £23m buy-back clause.

Nevertheless; the report suggests that the Blues are keen on striking a deal for the striker’s services, with fellow potential suitors Arsenal now pursuing England and Leicester City star Jamie Vardy.
