Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has opened himself up to more ridicule this week as he faced a grilling from the media ahead of their clash with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City this weekend.
With the future of his main man Alexis Sanchez still up in the air as the saga around his contract rumbles on, the Gunners manager was asked about rumours which emerged this week linking the Chilean with London rivals Chelsea.
Having been hammered from every angle since the turn of the year, Wenger replied with a surprisingly jovial mood, poking a sly jibe at the Premier League leaders.
Wenger asked how he interprets Alexis comments: “In a very positive way… there is only one team in London!”

Of course, the Gunners boss meant this as a joke and will have known exactly what would come his way having said it, however, fans have not held back.
Given the nature of the links, Chelsea fans in particular have gone to town on the comments from the Arsenal boss:
@johncrossmirror with a European cup

@johncrossmirror He’s so desperate for top 4 that he’s decided that Chelsea and Spurs no longer exist.

Wenger said there’s only one team in London.. And he’s right tbh, il admit it when it’s the truth. Chelsea are the only team in London
