Chelsea: Five men who could replace Jose Mourinho

Chelsea have sacked Jose Mourinho after a disastrous start to their Premier League title defence.

The Blues have lost nine of their first 16 matches, meaning they are just a point above the bottom-three and 14 behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

So what next for owner Roman Abramovich, who will now be making his 10th managerial change since buying the Blues in 2003.

5. Brendan Rodgers

Despite failing to win a trophy in his three-year spell with Liverpool, many at Chelsea still hold Brendan Rodgers in high regard due to his time there as youth and reserve team coach.

Without a job at the minute, the Northern Irishman would jump at the chance to manage the champions.

Rodgers is highly-rated at Chelsea

We don’t see him being a popular candidate, but neither was the appointment of Rafa Benitez when Abramovich put him in charge in 2012.

The Spaniard took the post on an interim basis and a similar deal could be struck here with Rodgers.
