Chelsea are reportedly ready to use Loic Remy as a makeweight in a £70 million deal to sign former striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton, according to the Telegraph.
The Blues are prepared to break their transfer record – the £50 million signing of Fernando Torres from Liverpool in 2011 – in order to bring the Belgium international back to Stamford Bridge this summer, and they are also now willing to include Remy as part of the total package.
The Frenchman is out of favour after failing to make an impression under former managers Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink, and his first-team chances with the west London outfit are likely to be further limited by the arrival of Michy Batshuayi from Marseille last month.
Chelsea sold Lukaku to Everton for £28 million in two years ago, and the Belgian has gone on to score 45 goals in 94 appearances in all competitions during his time at Goodison Park, but has told friends that he is keen to return to his former club.
