Chelsea are reportedly lining up a £6 million move for Steaua Bucharest midfielder Nicolae Stanciu, according to the Mirror.

The 23-year-old, who can play on either wing or behind the striker, was one of Romania’s stand out players at the 2016 European Championship finals earlier in the summer, and he has taken that form into the new season with his club.

The attacker scored both of his side’s goals as they beat Sparta Prague 2-0 on the night, and 3-1 on aggregate, in their Champions League qualification tie on Wednesday, and they will now face Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as they look to book a place in the group stages for the upcoming campaign.

Stanciu, who is already on the radar of a number of teams after netting 14 goals and picking up 11 assists last term, only picked up his first cap for his nation in March this year, but he has gone on to score four goals in just seven appearances.
