Chelsea are reportedly weighing up whether to allow Ruben Loftus-Cheek out on loan ahead of the upcoming January transfer window, according to the Evening Standard.

The Premier League side, who currently sit second in the English top-flight standings following five successive wins, meaning they are now just one point behind leaders Liverpool heading into the weekend, are considering whether to negotiate a temporary move away from Stamford Bridge for the midfielder in the new year.

The 20-year-old, who has featured 15 times for England’s Under-21 side, has provided one assist in three first-team appearances in all competitions for The Blues so far this season.

Loftus-Cheek, whose game time this campaign has been hindered by minor back and hamstring injuries respectively, will not be sold by Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, although the Italian could choose to offer him out on loan to aid his development.

The club’s exit from the League Cup to the hands of West Ham United means the central midfielder’s first-team opportunities are set to remain restricted.
