Chelsea look set to be one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs during the summer transfer window.

The Blues have spent more than £500 million on new signings since owner Todd Boehly took charge of the club last summer, and must now trim their squad.

Incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino will have plenty of difficult decisions to make in the coming weeks as he looks to trim the Blues’ inflated squad.

Now, though, it appears that Chelsea are hoping to sign one of the Premier League’s most wanted players.

As per Football Insider, the west London outfit have made a move to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

The report claims that Chelsea have made contact with the Seagulls over a proposed move for the Ecuador international, who has been in sensational form over the past 18 months.

Caicedo, 21, joined Brighton from Independiente del Valle back in 2021 and spent time on loan with Belgian side Beerschot VA shortly after.

He returned to the south coast in January 2022, and has since made 53 appearances for the club across all competitions.

Caicedo has attracted interest from several clubs

The Ecuadorian has been in fine form ever since, but his performances haven’t gone unnoticed and several clubs have been linked with the midfielder.

The report claims that Brighton are holding out for £70 million for Caicedo, as well as an extra £10 million in add-ons.

Back in January, Caicedo was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal and was the subject of at least one offer from the north London club.

Brighton rejected Arsenal’s efforts, though, and the player signed a long-term contract extension shortly after that is set to run until 2027.

Despite that, it appears increasingly likely that he will depart The Amex during this summer’s window.

Both Liverpool and Manchester United are said to be interested in Caicedo, who made 43 appearances for Brighton across all competitions this term.
