Manchester United begin their pre-season preparations with a friendly against Championship side Wrexham in Finland later this month.
The Red Devils officially appointed Michael Carrick as their manager earlier this summer, with the Englishman having impressed during a spell in caretaker charge during the second half of last season.
Carrick guided United to a third-placed finish last term – securing Champions League qualification – but this time around he will have to contend with European football for the first time.
Ahead of the start of the new season, it is emerging that a Brazilian midfielder could be open to the idea of joining Manchester United.
As per TEAMtalk, Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos could be willing to join the Red Devils, if they formalise their interest in the player.
The report suggests that United have identified the 22-year-old as a possible candidate to bolster Carrick’s midfield, and the player himself could be open to the switch.
Santos joined Chelsea from Brazilian side Vaso da Gama back in 2023, initially remaining on loan at the club before moving to London.
He has since made 47 appearances for the club across all competitions, as well as having loan spells with both Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg, the latter also being part of the BlueCo ownership group.
According to the report, Santos is keen to secure a move away from Stamford Bridge in order to guarantee more regular game time, having started just 13 of the Blues’ 38 Premier League games last term.
A move to Old Trafford is a ‘dream’ for the player, the report says, and United do hold genuine interest in the Brazilian, who has been capped six times by his country but missed out on a place in the World Cup squad.
