Lampard has been praised for his summer dealings.

Chelsea Predicted XI: We predict Chelsea manager Frank Lampard’s starting XI as they host London rivals Crystal Palace at 12:30pm in the Premier League.

It’s been a turbulent few weeks for Chelsea, with great performances and wins followed by disappointing performances and results.

The latest of which was a poor display away at Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup which saw the Blues lose on penalties against Jose Mourinho’s Spurs.

However, Lampard’s boys will still go into the lunchtime game as firm favourites as they look to bounce back with three points in the Premier League.

Today’s opponents will certainly put up a fight, with Roy Hodgson’s side making a decent start to their 2020/21 campaign and will be hoping for a result today.

Here we predict Chelsea’s starting XI…

Goalkeeper:

For all their stellar summer signings, the goalkeeper position has been most talked about at Stamford Bridge this campaign. Lampard has reacted to Kepa’s poor performances and signed Edouard Mendy from Ligue 1 side Rennes. Medny made his Chelsea debut midweek and we expect him to retain his place today.

Defenders:

New signing Ben Chilwell was given a decent run out midweek, playing over an hour and we expect him to start the game, with young right back Reece James returning to the side. That leave Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen to start at centre back, with the latter desperate to prove himself, following his poor red card against Liverpool last time out.

Midfielders:

Chelsea’s much-changed midfield did not perform very well against Spurs, so we expect Lampard to make changes. N’golo Kante will come back into the side with Kai Havertz also starting the game. That leaves Jorginho who will be the only survivor in the midfield three from the defeat midweek.

Forwards:

Following his first goal for the club, we expect Timo Werner to remain in the starting XI, but Tammy Abraham will come back into the side, with Lampard putting two recognised strikers on the pitch. the ever-present Mason Mount will also be given a start as he looks to unlock the Crystal Palace midfield.

Predicted XI: Mendy, James, Zouma, Christensen, Chilwell, Kante, Jorginho, Havertz, Mount, Abraham, Werner
