Lampard is managing his very large squad.

Chelsea Predicted XI: We predict Chelsea manager Frank Lampard’s starting XI as they host travel to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League at 5:30pm.

Chelsea will be hoping for a more positive result than their last outing in the league, which saw them lose 2-0 at home to Premier League Liverpool.

However, they bounced back with a thumping 6-0 victory in the Carabao Cup against Barnsley midweek and will be favourites going into this afternoon’s encounter.

Here we predict Chelsea’s starting XI…

Goalkeeper:

For all their stellar summer signings, the goalkeeper position has been most talked about at Stamford Bridge this campaign. Lampard has reacted to Kepa’s poor performances and signed Edouard Mendy from Ligue 1 side Rennes. Kepa is expected to keep his place this afternoon but for how long?

Defenders:

New signings Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva are in contention to start their first Premier League games for Chelsea. With Andreas Christensen banned we expect Silva to start alongside Kurt Zouma. But Ben Chilwell is unlikely to start the game. Leaving Marcos Alonso and Reece James playing full back.

Midfielders:

N’Golo Kante is playing well this season and will be expected to keep his place. Ross Barkley has found himself out the starting line-up and with Kai Havertz bagging a midweek hat-trick we can’t see the England international getting a start today. Matteo Kovacic will make up the midfield three with Jorginho missing out.

Forwards:

That leaves three attacking forwards for Lampard to select. Despite a whole host of summer signings, Mason Mount remains a firm favourite of Lampard’s. Timo Werner will be expected to come back into the side after being rested midweek and Callum Hudson-Odoi will provide some much needed width.

Predicted XI: Kepa, James, Zouma, Silva, Alonso, Kante, Jorginho, Havertz, Mount, Hudson-Odoi, Werner
