Chelsea Predicted XI: We predict Frank Lampard’s starting XI as the Blues face a tough match against Burnley this afternoon

Lampard has been praised for his summer dealings.

Chelsea Predicted XI: We predict Frank Lampard’s starting XI as the Blues face a tough match against Burnley this afternoon.

Frank Lampard’s spent over £200million in the transfer window as they aim to compete at the top of the league once again and win trophies.

However, despite an influx of big signings, the Blues’ have been very inconsistent both in terms of performances and results.

The latest setback came last time out when the West London side drew 3-3 against Southampton after being 2-0 and 3-2 in front.

Lampard will know that he will need to find a solution quick, especially with other top sides dropping points, giving real opportunities for so many teams.

But with the fixtures coming thick and fast at the start of this 2020/21 campaign, the Blues boss could be forced to shuffle his pack once again.

So which players will the ex-England international task with getting a positive result at Turf Moor?

Here we predict Lampard’s starting XI…

Goalkeeper: Edouard Mendy has firmly established himself as Lampard and Chelsea’s number one. The shot-stopper made two or three very good saves against Manchester United last week and kept a clean sheet in the Champions League away in Russia midweek. Mendy will start tomorrow and will expect to have a lot to do with many balls in the box.

Defenders: Lampard will be delighted with his side’s back-to-back clean sheets. He also has no injury problems to deal with, except for tiredness, with his squad travelling back from Russia midweek. Thiago silva did not make the trip, so we expect him to be named alongside Kurt Zouma at centre back. That leaves the two brilliant full backs Reece James and Ben Chilwell to start on either flank.

Midfielders: Lampard has so many options to choose from in the midfield positions and usually likes to play three in the middle of the park. N’golo Kante only played 30 minutes in the Champions League so we expect him to start today alongside Jorginho in the holding position. That leaves Mason Mount to sit in front of those two, as we expect Kai Havertz to come out of the starting XI this week.

Forwards: Timo Werner is Lampard’s go-to man in the forward positions and we expect the Germany international to once again provide the focal point in attack today. Hakim Ziyech performed well in the Champions League, but Lampard might feel this is not the game for him so we expect Tammy Abraham to start and Christian Pulisic on the other side.

Predicted XI: Mendy, James, Thiago, Zouma, Chilwell, Jorginho, Kante, Mount, Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic.
