Manchester United have reportedly been given the green light to sign Serbia international star Nemanja Matic this summer, according to the Telegraph.
The Premier League side, who lifted the UEFA Europa League and the EFL Cup last term, have been continually linked with luring the Chelsea midfielder to Old Trafford ahead of the forthcoming 2017-18 campaign.
The 28-year-old, who has 32 international caps for his country, scored two goals and provided nine assists in 40 appearances in all competitions for the top-flight champions last season.
Matic, who re-joined The Blues back in 2014 from Portuguese outfit Benfica, has netted seven times in 154 first-team outings overall for Chelsea, winning three Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the League Cup.
However, with manager Antonio Conte poised to sign AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko this transfer window, the report suggests the Serbian ace has been training on his own in pre-season and is eager to work again with ex-Blues boss Jose Mourinho at United.
Chelsea will look to pocket around £40m for Matic’s services.
