Chelsea have reportedly rejected a £14.25 million bid from Borussia Monchengladbach for defender Andreas Christensen, according to the Daily Mail.
The 20-year-old is currently in the middle of a two-year loan spell with the Bundesliga side, but they are keen to bring in the Dane on a permanent deal this summer after he impressed, winning the club’s 2015/16 Player of the Season award.
However, new Blues boss Antonio Conte doesn’t want to lose the Denmark international, who has six caps for his country, as he believes he can provide competition to Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma for the centre-back position in the future – especially as John Terry is likely to retire at the end of next term.
Christensen moved to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer from Brondby in 2012, and has made two starts for the club in all competitions, one in the League Cup and one in the FA Cup.
